At Build 2025, Microsoft unveiled its strategy for AI agents that can collaborate across platforms and retain memory of tasks. This initiative features the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open-source standard developed with Anthropic for seamless communication among AI systems. Microsoft is also investigating structured retrieval augmentation to improve AI memory by storing concise summaries of user interactions, which will help reduce computational demands.
